SAS September 13 Meeting Minutes Next SAS meeting is November

There will be NO SAS Meeting in OCTOBER!!! ALSO OUR MEETING PLACE HAS BEEN MOVED PERMANENTLY! SAS has had to move! SAS will NOT Meet at the Community Center at Lawton any longer. SAS will now meet at the West Sunset Rec Center, @ 39th and Ortega (behind the middle school).
SAS VOTED AND APPROVED:
SAS Group Show - Yerba Buena
The SAS Group show theme proposal for Yerba Buena is Childhood Reflections. Here are some further descriptions of the theme, Childhood Reflections could be a child hood dream that you lost and/or rediscovered, a childhood's memory, moment or a beloved toy. Adult reflections on childhood, rediscovered, lost or otherwise, rediscovered joy, a second childhood, a childlike view of the world, toys etc. The deadline for a slide or photo of your art work for submission to Yerba Buena is Nov 8, which is the November SAS Meeting. FYI The slide or photo that you submit for this show must be a final, or a slide or photo of the final work that you will submit to the SAS Yerba Buena Group Show.
BTW This theme, Childhood Reflections, was decided upon based on the feedback from the YB curator, who suggested SAS do a group show with toys or a childhood theme.
SAS Group Show - SF Library
The library has some specific requirements (see attached word doc) . The key elements of an exhibit are historical and educational significance. It is also recommended that all artwork be uniform in size, so no larger than 16X20.
Theme: art and community; David is going to write up a prospectus for this show, art, community, sunset etc.
SAS Group Show -DeYoung Re: the DeYoung theme that was originally thought up for the SF Library, well, the proposal was made to actually show in the DeYoung itself. To that end the DeYoung was contacted and is open (because of De Young theme) to the idea of SAS showing there. The De Young needs to be contacted again in Nov. 2004.
Theme: de Young Influence . The deYoung's influence on you as an artist, feelings about waiting for the museum to open, anticipation of the opening, loss of the old building etc.and broadened to include Golden Gate Park. GGP also includes the history of GGpark, the bridges, the statues, the museums.
